Detectives investigating an attempted murder in Newham are appealing for witnesses.

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 05: 16hrs on Wednesday, 27 July to reports of an injured man on Martindale Avenue, E16.

Officers attended along with London’s Air Ambulance. A 28-year-old man was taken to east London hospital with stab injuries, where he remains in a critical condition.

At this early stage, the assault is believed to have occurred at the junction of Mandela Road and Coolfin Road in Canning Town.

There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.

Detective Sergeant Keith Faris, the investigating officer, said: “We know the victim met with another male shortly before he was attacked and we are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time to contact police.

“Anyone who witnessed anything, no matter how small, is asked to call police so we can identify the person responsible for this man’s serous injuries.”
